"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" - John 1:1
When we look at the essential meaning behind faith or our faith walk, Hebrews gives guidence.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” - Hebrews 11:1
Put differently, when we have conviction in a certain area to the extent that we are assured of a particular outcome. This conviction allows us to remain focused and not swayed looking left or right when winds come. The foundation of conviction is knowledge through and through. This makes sense since God himself and Jesus are the word, therefore the basis of our faith is the word. Without knowledge of the word one cannot have conviction in their faith. An example would be in Romans.
“Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness” - Romans 10:1-3
With that in mind the aim of faith mentorship is to guide readers through God’s word thematically, to become mature believers that don’t just drink milk but eat solid food, with God's word as a cornerstone.
