"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jer 29:11
Jeremiah who appeared roughly 600 years before Christ was born, is speaking about the judgement that will come upon the Israelites. However he also speaks about a time when those who earnestly seek God will find God again.
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13
Paul, who wrote the book of Romans, was an apostle of Jesus Christ who wrote many of the letters in the New Testament. He wrote this verse to encourage the Christians in Rome to trust in God during difficult times. At the time, Christians were being persecuted and faced many challenges, but Paul reminded them that God is a God of hope who can fill them with joy and peace.
"Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." Psalm 43:5
Here, the psalmist encourages us that even when we feel downcast we need to put our hope in God and even cheer his name.
