“Salt to taste”

Although you wouldn't add as much salt in sweet dessert recipes, as in savory recipes, you do also add a pinch of salt in baking recipes following the “salt to taste” or “adjust salt as needed” cue; to, in both cases, make them taste better. What does that mean?

Salt; we love it we use it we taste it, bathe in it, soak in it, make it in chemistry class, use it for wounds, for preserving meats, and, back in the day, even for trading. Now, that I have established the diverse use and essential need for salt in our everyday lives, let’s go into why “salt to taste” has become a very popular shorthand to use in cooking and what it means.
